The Site
Over 4 acres of private land means that there is plenty of space for whatever outdoor activities you are interested in and the natural pond has been nurtured to provide a beautiful relaxing setting for you to sit and gather your thoughts, watch the array of wildlife or to partake in a spot of fishing!
Nether Burrows is the home to four large holiday cottages, each equipped for all your holiday needs. Meadow View and Willow Barn each sleep 14 people and are identical properties, perfect for larger groups with children. Sunshine Cottage sleeps a maximum of 10 people was converted in 2008. It has been completed to a luxurious finish with a modern twist on the country feel and has a relaxing hot tub on the terrace for you to warm up in on a chilly country evening. The Farmhouse sleeps 10 people was refurbished in early 2009 with a traditional farmhouse feel.
Each of the four cottages on site are self contained with their own parking areas and can be booked separately or as a group depending on your requirements. Due to a number of requests in the past we can now also provide a ‘party pack’ at a small extra cost to help your special celebrations run more smoothly.
The Farmhouse
To the ground floor the Farmhouse consists of a large open plan country kitchen with dining area and wc cloakroom off. The original scullery can be accessed from the kitchen and can accommodate a dog, subject to conditions, and facilities to chop your own logs should you wish to do so! (One basket of logs will be provided if you don’t fancy doing it yourself!) The kitchen has a gas range cooker with hob, dish washer and a washing machine is located in the cloakroom. Off the kitchen, the lounge has an open log fire and standard terrestrial receiving TV. A separate tv room is also located on the ground floor with digital HD freeview TV. To the front of the property there are two bedrooms with en suite shower rooms boasting underfloor heating and heated towel rails. To the rear of the property, accessed from the kitchen stairs, are two further bedrooms, family bathroom and fifth ‘walk through’ bedroom which can be accessed from either the front or rear stairs of the property. All bedrooms in the Farmhouse have 6ft zip and link beds and can be made up as twin or double accommodation. An original ‘secret’ staircase provides access to the second floor where children (or adults!) can entertain themselves in the attic games room. Externally the Farmhouse has a beautiful private garden with garden furniture and BBQ provided to while away those rare English summer days!
Sunshine Cottage
The meticulous conversion of Sunshine Cottage was completed in December 2008. The accommodation provided is to the highest standards combining modern luxury with a traditional country feel. The Cottage has a spacious open plan ground floor with under floor heating, perfect for getting together with friends and family. The fully fitted kitchen has an electric range cooker, central island sink unit, dishwasher and washer dryer. The kitchen leads out to a south facing morning terrace complete with hot tub, perfect for those cold country evenings! The central dining room has an extendable table seating up to 12 people and is open to the large lounge area with original feature beams and brickwork. The lounge is centred around a log burner and provides access to an evening terrace with stunning views over the rolling Derbyshire countryside. To the first floor the sleeping accommodation is suitable for both families and couples, with three of the bedrooms being able to be set out as double or twin rooms. ‘The purple suite’ with original feature king post oak beam also has a single day bed with pull out single bed, perfect for families with small children. Off the master suite a luxurious bathroom with two-person bath provides the ideal place to retreat. The two additional bedrooms to the first floor both have en suite shower rooms with large fixed screen showers. The second floor comprises ‘the blue suite’ with separate bathroom, again with two-person bath. All bathrooms have under floor heating, heated towel rails and anti-mist mirrors.
Willow Barn and Meadow View
Willow Barn and Meadow View are identical properties and are fantastically equipped for all your self-catering holiday needs. The cottages boasts inviting log burners in the lounge (one basket of logs is provided on arrival) to curl up by on those winter nights. The kitchens are fully fitted with electric hob, double oven, dishwasher and a separate utility room with washing machine. A spacious terrace with garden furniture and BBQ to the rear of the property has fantastic views over the beautiful Derbyshire countryside. A twin bedroom to the ground floor with separate bathroom provides disabled accommodation if necessary, with three further double bedrooms (two with en suite shower rooms) and three twin rooms with an additional bathroom and shower room. One of our most popular features is the large games room equipped with pool table, football table and table tennis table along with a variety of board games and tv and video.
Location
Nether Burrows is ideally located to provide a perfect idyllic rural setting but with the convenience of the city of Derby only 4 miles away and the market town of Ashbourne within 9 miles. Other local places of interest include the stately homes of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, water sports, riding, cycling and wildlife centre at Carsington Water, Alton Towers, Crich Tram Museum, Paint balling and an array of appealing Derbyshire towns and villages.
There are a number of nearby villages which provide shopping facilities: Brailsford is approximately 3 miles away and has small convenience shops, a larger supermarket in Mickleover is approximately 6 miles away, Derby and Ashbourne are both within 9 miles and also have supermarkets along with a variety of fashion and other stores.
There are a number of pubs nearby which provide good quality home cooked meals.
Directions
Nether Burrows is situated just off the A52 between Derby and Ashbourne. Driving along the A52 towards Ashbourne, as you enter Kirk Langley take the left hand turn onto Church Lane signposted Dalbury Lees and Longford. After a third of a mile take the right hand turn signposted Nether Burrows Farm and continue up the track for approximately 1 mile. Willow Barn and Meadow View will be found at the top of the track.
